Why have a second text interface to NetHack?[]
In a nutshell, I was interested in having a version of NetHack that was based-on the high-level curses routines (which the tty version does not, even when linking to the (N)curses library). This version, while still character-based, has a number of advantages, such as a fancier display, making use of larger terminal windows (e.g. having a milti-line message window), dynamic resizing of the terminal window, and dynamic placement of NetHack windows.
